Blue Origin’s Crew-3 mission to space delayed due to bad weather

The Crew-3 flight of Amazon founder Jeff Bezos’ space firm Blue Origin has been delayed until Saturday due to inclement weather in space.

The first flight carrying six astronauts into space was initially scheduled for December 9. Only four people will go on the last two missions.

“Due to winds on December 9 and 10, the New Shepard launch team has called for the launch of NS-19 to be postponed to December 11,” the company said in a statement on Thursday.

The new liftoff is targeted for 8.45 a.m. CST (8.15 a.m. IST) from Launch Site One in west Texas.

The company said the team has completed a flight readiness review and the vehicle has met all mission requirements for launch. But, the weather remained the only constraint for the launch, he added.

The Crew-3 mission advances the company’s vision of the millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth.

This is New Shepard’s third manned flight this year and the sixth for the program in 2021 and the 19th in its history.

Blue Origin began its second manned flight into space on October 13 with the original Star Trek’s Captain James T. Kirk (actor William Shatner), the oldest to travel to space with NASA engineer Chris Boshuijn, Glenn de Vries. became a person.

On July 20, Blue Origin made its first manned flight involving Jeff Bezos, his brother Mark Bezos, aviation pioneer Wally Funk and Blue Origin’s first customer Oliver Damon.

Bezos’ space firm in October also announced plans to build a commercial space station called Orbital Reef by the latter part of this decade.

For the project, Blue Origin has partnered with spaceflight company Sierra Space, a subsidiary of Sierra Nevada Corporation, Boeing, Redwire Space, Genesis Engineering Solutions and Arizona State University.

The station will open the next chapter of human space exploration and development by facilitating the development of a vibrant ecosystem and business model for the future, the company announced.
